Our Winemaker

Gary Brumfield served in the U.S Army for 21 years as a military maintenance technician.  Retiring as a CW3 from the military in 1999, he worked for nearly 10 years as a program manager for the Stryker Program with General Dynamics Land Systems.  During this time he utilized his GI Bill benefits, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration in 2008 from the University of Phoenix.  In 2010, Gary and his wife Dawn made a series of life-changing decisions which happily brought them to the Walla Walla valley and it is here where they began to pursue the dream of starting their own winery.

In 2011, Gary began volunteering at a few Walla Walla wineries and in a very short period of time, he had found a new passion.  Gary enrolled in the Walla Walla Community College's Enology and Viticulture Program.   In his first year, he studied viticulture and each day he would put into practice what he was learning.   Planting 50 Petit Verdot and 50 Cabernet Sauvignon vines, he established our first estate vineyard, which is named Miracles Vineyard.  During his enology year, he worked at several wineries, assisting with bottling, cellar work, special events and even in several tasting rooms.  Gary successfully completed his first harvest at Long Shadows Winery and his second at Saviah Cellars.

Following completion of the EV program, after much thought, prayer and planning, we decided it was time to make our own wine and Miracles Vintners, LLC was licensed and Mustard Seed Cellars was born.  Gary researched and found just the fruit he wanted to make his first commercial wine, a Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon called "Moving Mountains".
